Safe Deposit Lockers offer a variety of handy ways to pay the rent for lockers, as well as nomination for easy access to locker contents. Over 5 branches of NK Bank offer locker services. There are lockers available in more than 5 branches. Select a locker size from small, medium, large, or extra-large. Take advantage of affordable rates based on the size and location of the locker. Make simple direct debits from your account to pay your annual and advance-paying locker rent. Add a nominee to your safe deposit box to make it easier to release the contents to the hirer(s)' nominee(s) as needed.

Eligibility for Safe Deposit Lockers

You must meet several requirements in order to use a safe deposit box. If you meet the requirements, you can open a personal locker by completing your Safe Deposit Locker opening form and the required paperwork.

When you submit your application, you might need to provide specific documentation for the account opening of a safe deposit box.

If you already have an account with NK Bank, you can visit your local branch, and one of our employees would be pleased to assist you with the process. Existing account holders are not required to provide any special paperwork.

Fees and Charges

Charges & Fees for a Safe Deposit Locker.Rental prices may differ amongst branches at the same address. Please visit the branch or use Internet/Mobile banking to check any applicable rentals. Locker rent revisions are in effect as of April 1, 2022.

Rules & Regulations: Locker rent is assessed yearly and paid in advance. Depending on the size of the locker and the branch, our locker rentals change.

There will be a late payment penalty of 2.5% per month, up to a maximum of 25%.

The following are important facts about safe deposit lockers that you should know:  

Bank lockers are quite secure 

  • One of the safest places to keep your belongings is in a bank locker.  
  • Safety officers are always on duty in the locker room.  
  • Constant monitoring is ensured by CCTV cameras around-the-clock. 
  • Materials that are resistant to shock, fire, and water were used in the vault's construction. 

Having a Nominee Is Essential 

  • When renting a locker, you have to select a nominee.  
  • After fulfilling the necessary legal requirements, the candidate can access the locker in the event of the locker holder's passing.  
  • Legal beneficiaries must get a court order to claim the items in the absence of a nominee.  
  • This guarantees your loved ones receive your possessions in a seamless manner. 

You Need a Bank Account to Rent a Locker 

  • Prior to renting a locker, the majority of banks need you to have a current or savings account.  
  • For verification, you must provide KYC documents (passport, PAN, Aadhaar, etc.).  
  • In addition to the annual rent, certain banks may need an initial security deposit.

 Bank’s Right to Break Open the Locker 

  • The bank has the right to break open or seal the locker if rent is not paid for an extended period of time.  
  • In addition, banks may open lockers in response to court demands or suspicions of criminal activity. 

Access Rules & Timings 

  • The locker is only accessible during bank business hours.  
  • For extra protection, several banks permit entry by appointment only.  
  • When you visit, always have your ID with you and your locker key.  

Insurance for Locker Contents 

  • By default, banks do not insure the contents of lockers.  
  • Jewellery and valuables can be covered by separate insurance.

  • Permitted: passports, wills, jewellery, property documents, and cash (if allowed).
